Ongoing refinery maintenance projects. The Shell refinery is one of the largest in Europe. 416,000 barrels of crude oil are processed each day, amounting to nearly 21 million tonnes every year. While the factories are running to capacity, 750 litres of crude oil are processed in the Crude Distillers every second. The 800 storage tanks hold around 5 billion litres of fuel. The refinery makes products such as petrol, kerosene, diesel and raw materials for the chemical industry.
